Thompson Maritime Consulting, LLC is owned and operated by Matthew H. Thompson.
Matt has over 18 years of experience in maritime archaeological surveys, geophysical surveys, underwater mapping, and diver assessment projects. He specializes in geophysical and submerged cultural resources surveys, with a specific interest in underwater positioning technologies and methods to use in conjunction with other forms of archaeological data acquisition practices. This was the subject of his doctoral thesis research which resulted in the development of the Underwater Acoustic Localisation and Referencing (UALR) methodology, which revolutionizes the manner in which underwater positioning is applied to archaeological data sampling techniques in support of submerged cultural resources surveys and offshore geophysical surveys. In addition to his interests and expertise for surveying on and under the water surface, Matt is also a FAA Part 107 certified commercial drone pilot.
